Programs and Services
Many homeless individuals experience violence, the loss of place, safety, stability, and community, and disruptions to important relationships; usually occurring at an early age. Such traumatic events have a major impact on how homeless individuals understand themselves in relation to other people and the world around them; giving rise to seeing the world, people, and their experience(s) through their lens and from their. The programs and supportive services at CFCAR are designed from a trauma informed care, adopting a holistic view of care to (1) address the specific needs of women (gender responsive); (2) equip women and children with transformative knowledge; (3) assist the women and children in recovering from trauma and homelessness; and (4) assist women in recognizing the connections between housing, employment, shame, mental and physical health, substance abuse, incarceration, education, unhealthy choices and lifestyles.
